✹  More about "The Light of the Sun"

Luqman Frank’s forthcoming album, The Light of the Sun, is an invitation to joy, a celebration of life and love. Inspired by the sounds of 1970s classic soul, the 12-track LP marks a powerful debut for the Berkeley-based singer-songwriter, showcasing his multifaceted vocal abilities against a decorated live backing of musicians. Set for release in Spring 2022, the project exudes an atmosphere of positivity and hope, brimming with the raw emotion and soulful charm for which Luqman has become known.

All songs on the album are original compositions and sample-free. Luqman Frank and B. Quincy Griffin wrote all compositions with the exception of “Leaving for Living” which was written by Linda Frank (Luqman’s mother). Paul Baker is co-writer on “Sure Love” and “I Wish”. Pep Love (of the Hieroglyphics) is co-written “the Light of the Sun” and Dexter Griffin is co-written on “So Into U”.

✹  Luqman BiO

Berkeley-based singer-songwriter Luqman Frank has been a fixture of the San Francisco Bay Area music scene for the past decade. With a voice reminiscent of the soul-stirrers of the past, Luqman delivers a depth of feeling and candor through his smoke-filled tone, bringing visual shape and character to lyrics. With a minor in theater from Saint Mary’s College and training from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, his stage performance is energetic and emotive, creating an atmosphere of intimacy and celebration for audiences. Planning the release of his highly anticipated debut effort, Luqman teams up with co-writer and producer Quincy Griffin and introduces his new full-length album, The Light of the Sun, dropping in Spring 2022.
